I need more!

This is not a Richelle Mead "young adult" title. Ifyou're looking for another Vampire Academy, this isn't it.

This one's finally for the adults out there.

No teen overdramatic relationships, . Though there is one teenager as part of the cast, this isn't a repeat of Mead's popular but less mature vampire world.

But it's not wonderfully raunchy pornographic adult fiction like Mead's Succubus series either.

The Age of X series is like a bit the Harry Dresden supernatural mysteries, toss in some Honor Harrington military adventure, and a dash of Percy Jackson's world (a young adult book, but the only comparison I could find) for flavor - and you have Age of X.

The characters are well drawn, sometimes not very likeable, but very real and gritty. These are real people, not shining heroes, so if you're looking for role models, you won't find them here. These are broken people who step up to the plate when the world needs them. Involvement with drugs, alcohol, casual sex and sometimes really stupid personal life decision-making is part of these characters, but so is selflessness, love of family and friends, and courage.

The world-building is amazing. This is a future that isn't quite "post-apocalyptic," but it is very different from the one we know. It is a world where disease has ravaged the gene pool, leaving healthy mixed-bloods and genetically damaged pure bloods, but the world soldiered on. There was no war, but political divisions have remade the borders, blending some countries, splitting others, based on their cultural response to the disease.

Mead explores the concepts of religious rule versus enforced secularism, in nearly pure forms, and the cultural responses and effects on individuals, while playing into a supernatural world that neither side is ready for.

Left Hanging in the Balance

This series had me on the edge of my seat and that is the only reason I gave 4 stars. It would have gotten 5 stars had the series not ended there. But there apparently are no more books in the series and the ending just left everyone hanging, probably dying to know what the actual ending to the story was. While the books were filled with lots of action and drama, it was disappointing in the end. What happened to Mae? What happened to Justin? Did Mae find out who her attacker was? Did the God's go to war? If so which God dominated? What happened to Tessa? What happened to Ava? So many questions left unanswered.

Walk like an Egyptian

I have just completed the second book. I have really enjoyed the interplay of the characters who are well developed but I feel the world building is a bit obvious - there is little subtlety as you are hit over the head with the beliefs of each "county" but the world building does contain depth even though it lacks complexity. Mead has moved away form the comfort of YA books (yuck) but still needs to make bolder strides toward adult oriented concepts and interests. Last note - the Tessa character is interesting in book one but turns into a lot of "skimming filler" in book 2

He gave me initiation in the Naqshbandi Order and he said to me, 'O my son, we have power that in one second we can make our murid reach his station.
As soon as he said that he looked into my heart with his eyes, and as he did so they turned from yellow to red, then to white, then to green and black. The color of his eyes changed as he poured into my heart the knowledge associated with each color.

Wonderful guide to the great Naqshbandi Sufi Order

This book by Shaykh Hisham is a wonderfully produced and poetic work, beautifully presented, about the Most High Naqshbandiyya Order of Sufis. It gives detailed biographies--not available elsewhere in English--of some of the greatest Muslim saints who were part of this chain. Also, as the Naqshbandiyya Order is uniform up to Hazrat Muhammad Mas'um (May Allah sanctify his secret!) in the names of its Masters, only then splitting up into different sub-orders, this is a good history book also of the Naqshbandiyya in general and of the Naqshbandiyya-Khalidiyya in particular. Beautiful!!

Watergate Revisionism at its Finest!

I read this book in two sittings and hated putting it down. For anyone who remembers the Watergate scandal, and went to see the movie "All the President's Men," this book is a piece of stunning revisionism, forcing you to re-think everything you thought you knew about the Watergate incident. In particular it is a cautionary work about the relationship of journalists to government officials, a far cry from the heroic myth perpetuated by Woodward and Bernstein. Holland has done an extraordinary job in his detective work, demonstrating a willingness to ask the questions that the two famous Washington Post reporters never did. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the Nixon years and recent American political history.

Leak

Leak is a terrific book. A number of reviewers and commentators have noted that Leak is a `page turner,' and they're absolutely right. Some readers may think they already know the story of Felt as `Deep Throat', but Holland's enthralling narrative forces rethinking about why and how Felt became a leaker, who he leaked to, who first discovered that he was a leaker, and why he had to leave the FBI. Although one reviewer criticized Holland for basing his interpretation on `circumstantial evidence', for this reader, the author makes a compelling and persuasive case that Felt was not trying to bring down a president but to win a `war of succession' in the FBI. The author's new transcripts of important Nixon tapes and interviews with key officials, including then-acting FBI director William Ruckelshaus, add to the richness of the narrative. Leak is a fine contribution to our knowledge of the history of the Nixon administration and of the FBI.

Felt was no hero.

Great book it expose Mark Felt as a snake that he was. He basically used the Post, Woodward and Bernstein to destroy his rival Patrick Gray and advance his own ambitions to become the FBI director.
Mark Felt was portrayed as a man sickened by the wiretaps and break-ins by the White House, but Felt himself, writes Holland, "authorized illegal surreptitious entries into the homes of people associated with the Weather Underground."
If Felt was a hero, why did he not come forward to tell the country what he had done and why? Because he was no hero. Mark Felt was a snake.

poor book

I thought this book was written by professionals, there was no name of author on the book, and I found that it was written in a very poor sequence, many spelling mistakes, and poorly finished book. I thought it can be a good reference book, but I was disappointed when I saw the content quality. I hope that the authors have a second look at the book and withdraw it from the market, rewrite it then put it back on the market. The authors took advantage of the need of the candidates who are going for the PEBC exam; their need will push them to buy the book without knowing the quality of the content. In conclusion this is a low quality book

Surprized Amazon Stocks This "BooK"

Generally, I would refrain from writing a review if my consideration is that a material does not stand up too well among its peers. After a careful thought, I believe I owe it to would-be consumers and the vendor to I allow myself this exception because this Kruger's work is a rip off.
First, the material is haphazardly assembled and the layout is bad. In some places the language used does not clearly convey the information needed; akin to a student hurriedly taking a lecture notes with the intent of filling in the incomplete portion with some unwritten understanding he or she already has. The next source of irk is the size of the book. For its total content, it could have been smaller to encourage greater portability. However it seems the authors intended to mislead buyers with a large but empty volume created by unnecessary large font sizes and ridiculously spaced out lines.
I buy my books and many things from Amazon because I have come to trust the quality of products offered for sale and the quality of the services. That Amazon allowed this mediocre material to be offered on their site as a "book" for a professional course, makes me wonder if my trust is misplaced.

Having trained and qualified in the U.K., Dr. Elisabeth Dancey spent several years as a G.P. in Belgium, where her practice was biased towards dietary and nutritional methods of treatment. During this time she was able to embrace further medical techniques such as mesotherapy, oligotherapy and phytotherapy (the use of plant products in the treatment of disease), not routinely available in the U.K.

She now runs a clinic in London specializing in the treatment of varous medical and aesthetic conditions. informative and empowering

Admittedly this book took me three months to finish reading, the reason being that it is packed full of detailed, very well researched information about cellulite and its physical context. After reading this you will not only know the causes and remedies of cellulite - you will also have a vastly increased understanding about nutrition, blood circulation, hormonal balance, etc. Dancey is thorough but writes simply, frankly and encouragingly without becoming condescending. I can't imagine a better book about this subject.

Finally a Solution!

I was very impressed with this book. What surprised me was the way Dr. Dancey talked about releasing fat from the lower body while maintaining the upper body proportions, specifically your bra size! All too often women who lose weight lose it in their bust and then very gradually over the lower part of their body. She recommends a sound diet, food combining, exercise program and cellulite creams, aromotherapy, etc.

Another great book by Beverly Barton !

This book, as well as the previous Griffin Powell series, was suspenseful and kept you guessing until the end ! The ONLY reason I gave it 4* instead of 5* was because of the way the paragraph's ended on a subject and without a break the next paragraph took on an entirely different subject. Maybe it was just the way it showed up on my Kindle, but it made reading slightly difficult with the story changing directions with no real paragraph breaks. More a "format" issue than the authors fault.

She is never disappointing from start to finish. Characters are relatable. I fall in love with them. She is a good mystery writer with a touch of romance between her main characters. I like how she does the hate love between them. I am reading books from series 1 to 24. Also read her other series

My first venture into Bev. Barton Stories

Since this was my first venture in a Beverly Barton suspense thriller, I should have known better to start with a book that finished a series.

I have to tell you that I was seeing double and doing double takes when it came to all the characters included in this book. Wow. Keeping track of them took all my concentration.

A murderer is killing redheads and wouldn't you know, Reve and Jazzy are redheads and just learning from DNA testing that they're sisters separated at birth.

Barton does a great job of carrying on several sub-plots, both romantical and subverse along with the main plot story. She pulls all the strings together in the end and ties them all up in a nice little knot. For me, I'd like to have known a bit more detail about how the story lines ended, but then maybe what I'm really missing is the beginning of the story. I think I'll give Barton's other books a try and start this series over from the beginning.
